ABOUT CULLERCOATS COLLECTIVE

Cullercoats Collective CIC (Community Interest Company) is a not for profit company whose aim is to promote Cullercoats as a positive place to live, work and play. Our aim is for Cullercoats Collective to be self-sustainable and where all profits from our activities, apparel, kind donations or through grant funding go back into our local community.

The Collective formed in the summer of 2020 as the UK began to ease out of the COVID19 lockdown and the good weather arrived. With this combination of events, coastal communities saw a large surge in visitor numbers. This increase in people visiting Cullercoats meant that some of the perennial issues, such as anti-social behaviour and littering, were magnified. The Collective came together in response to these events to be a positive and proactive group, working for the good of everyone who lives, works and visits Cullercoats throughout the year.

Our strategy for the Collective was drawn up to guide our work over the coming weeks, months and years. It was initially informed through a questionnaire filled in by members of the community and conversations with local councillors, community police officers and other individuals and organisations. We want to continue that working relationship with the local community and if you would like to tell us about areas of work you think we should look at or ideas you have then please fill in our Community Engagement form.

MEET THE TEAM

The company and its directors were registered in July 2020, consisting of a ‘collective’ of Cullercoats residents and business owners. We all ‘lead’ on a particular aspect of Cullercoats, however in true Cullercoats-style, we all have an interest in each of them, and realise a lot of them link together too! This is great, as we can connect aspects such as Eco and Environment with Leisure, or History and Heritage with Events.

We are still looking to expand our team of volunteers so if you think you have some skills you can offer please get in touch.
