Cullercoats Ambassadors x Green Spaces: Cleaner, Colourful Cullercoats

Following the success of the community coming together for the million mile beach clean, we aim to facilitate another event for the community to come together and show Pride of Place. Focussing on particular areas at a time in detail to get them clean and tidy, then make them even better with community gardening projects (weeding, tidying and garden planning)- leaving it even better than it was before.

Saturday 19 June, area in focus is Belle Vue carpark area in front of Cullercoats community centre, the gated dog park, and planters in the cut through from John Street.
This area is a popular thoroughfare from the metro and residential areas to the beach, as well as a popular car park for visitors and is the first thing of Cullercoats they see. It’s known for issues with litter and neglected planters, so our focus is to make it clean, tidy, positive and welcoming for the future.

Join members of our community as we prepare this area with litter picking, weeding, clean up bins, brushing sandy steps and start to prepare the area for a bit of a revamp with better green spaces. Cullercoats Collective have permission to work in these areas for community gardening schemes. We have contact with garden designers, alongside creating a Green Spaces working group and Cullercoats ambassadors will be there too!

There will be lots of different things to get involved in: from litter picking, pressure washing, to weeding and all are welcome to come and lend a hand. If you have your own litter picking equipment please bring it with you and we will provide bin bags for collecting the rubbish.

We will be working with other organisations and groups at this event and the local CoOp will be providing some refreshments for those who lend a hand.

Please let us know if you would like to attend via the Eventbrite link. This is a free event for all and all are invited, however we just need to collect numbers to monitor the effectiveness of our funding grant.
