Head to North Tyneside’s coast for a BIG weekend of watersports, pop-up food and drink and very special one-off live music events.

Featuring the Tynemouth Surf Open, alongside stand-up paddle board activities from CBK Adventures and Northern SUP Racing. Many competing or “have a go” sessions are running by local watersports businesses on Saturday 9th October. Check out the North Sea Wkndr page for more information.

On CULLERCOATS BEACH (South), Sunday 10th October marks a Community day on Cullercoats beach with Cullercoats Collective & Totally Tynemouth, with a whole host of events!

No registration required for these events (except SUPBall – we may need to cap numbers if demand exceed). All subject to weather and conditions, please just turn up at Cullercoats Bay South Side to join and/or spectate:

7am: Sunrise Swim in Cullercoats Bay.

8am: International Surf Therapy Organisation (ISTO) Global Paddleout for Mental Health Day. Surfers (and paddlers) across the world are being invited to meet in the water at 8am to take part in a paddle out to show solidarity for those experiencing mental health issues.
Everyone is welcome to take part in this free event, to meet up, paddle out and form a circle, bring your flags to show support for positive mental health.

9am-10am: Sunday AM Beach Fitness Session with Ocean Fit
If you’ve not trained with Ocean Fit before, there is a two minute form to complete on the day.

10am-12pm: SUP Ball Taster Session with SUPBallUK
Cullercoats is home to to SUPball UK, a brand new game developed in Australia, combining the best bits of land-based ball sports, but played on a SUP. Come and have a go with the UK’s first SUPball club, right here in Cullercoats, then you can call yourself one of the UK’s first SUPballers!
You must check in by 9:30am at the latest, at the registration tent

12pm-1pm: SUP & Kayak Safety at Sea: Talk & Rescue Skills Demo
Bring your board/boat, wetsuit & BA if you want to get practical experience, or just come and listen/watch.

1pm-2.30pm: Big Cullercoats & Tynemouth Beach Clean Up

3pm-dark: SUP Social with SUPBall and the SUPport Brahs.
Join us at the SUPBall flag for a beach social to celebrate the close of the first ever North Sea Weekender. Bring your own food/drink. All welcome!
